Community Legacies

This page is dedicated to the belief that every community has individual stories and a communal story that need to be told and preserved. Research suggests an urgency to gather, document, publish, exhibit, celebrate, and preserve the legacies and experiences of aging women (culture-bearers) before they are lost.

A Community Legacy Project:

Echoes of Women's Voices from the Former Soviet Union; This groundbreaking project's mission is to collect, celebrate, and preserve the lore left behind with foremothers and immigration experiences. To learn more about this project, contact Rachael. Find out ways to be a partner and/or make a tax deductible gift to support this important project

Inspiration:

Stories have to be told or they die, and when they die, we can’t remember who we are or why we’re here.
- Sue Monk Kidd

Suggested Reading:

Lisa See's sensitive story of women's friendship and women preserving their stories in secret writing in nineteenth century China, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan.
